2020 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

There are three engine options offered for the Cherokee. The base engine is a 2.4L 4-cylinder that produces up to 171 lb-ft of torque and 180 horsepower. Another engine option offered is a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder that generates 295 lb0-ft of torque and 270 horsepower. The last engine is a 3.2L V6 that delivers up to 239 lb-ft of torque and 271 horsepower. All three engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The standard drivetrain configuration for the Cherokee is front-wheel drive but four-wheel drive is available, standard on the Trailhawk trim level!

2020 Ford Escape Power & Handling

There are just two engine options offered for the Escape. The base engine is a 1.5L EcoBoost 3-cylinder that creates up to 190 lb-ft of torque and 181 horsepower. This engine comes with standard front-wheel drive but all-wheel-drive is available. The second engine offered, a 2.0L EcoBoost 4-cylinder, produces 280 lb-ft of torque and 250 horsepower. This engine comes with all-wheel drive standard. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

Jeep offers five Cherokee trim levels, each and every one is incredibly well-equipped. The base model, the Latitude, comes with two USB ports, 17-inch wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, smartphone integration for Apple and Android models, LED automatic headlights, Bluetooth, and a 6-speaker sound system. The upper trims, the Latitude Plus, Limited, and Overland, add power-adjustable seats, parking sensors, additional USB ports, a power liftgate, remote engine start, heated front seats, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, nine-speaker sound system, sound-deadening glass, leather upholstery, HD radio, driver-seat memory functions, heated rear seats, and navigation. The Trailhawk trim level takes you off-roading with a specialized 4WD system, increased ground clearance, skid plates, all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and more!

2020 Ford Escape Features & Design

Ford also offers the Escape in five trim levels. The entry-level model is called the S and it comes with a 4.5-inch display screen, second-row sliding seats, selectable drive modes, and that’s about it. You have to step up to the second trim level called the SE for any real features like keyless entry and ignition, an 8-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, and smartphone integration. The other three trims add a hands-free liftgate, sport seats, remote engine start, a heated steering wheel, and an upgraded sound system.

Conclusion:

The 2020 Ford Escape put up a good fight with decently powerful engine options but the 2020 Jeep Cherokee is just so much better in every way. The three engine options are all powerful and fuel efficient while the five trim levels come incredibly well-equipped! Plus, the Escape just can’t compete with the Cherokee’s Trailhawk trim.
