Top Fall Road Trips in Maryland

Brought to you by Century CDJR

As soon as the leaves start to change color, it’s time to hop in your Jeep, and hit the road. This is the best time of year, and a perfect opportunity to get out there and experience everything that fall has to offer. We know that road trips are especially popular during the summer months, but fall road trips are criminally underrated. At Century CDJR, we want to help give you some ideas of where you and your family can take your last road trip before it starts to grow even colder. Maryland has a lot to offer, and no matter what exactly you have in mind, we are here to give you a great starting point. Continue reading down below for a few road trips that we think you should take this fall!

Mountain Maryland Byway

One of the very first road trips we recommend checking out is the one on the Mountain Maryland Byway. This is a drive that looks good no matter the season, but there’s something inherently special about making this trek while the leaves are changing. The road itself is around 90 miles long, with some of the highlights being the mountains that really make you remember why the earth is so beautiful. You’ll even come across plenty of cute mountain towns that are ready for the season.

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal

You will absolutely love checking out the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. This canal was built between 1828 and 1850, and was originally created for mules to tow canal boats through the waterway. Today you’ll be able to enjoy a beautiful trail near the river, and amazing state parks. Be on the lookout for the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Museum, the Green Ridge Forest, and the North Branch Potomac River. Take in the views, check out the river, and have a little bit of a history lesson in-between.

Antietam Campaign Byway

Many of you history buffs out there will enjoy the kind of history that you can experience while on this beautiful road trip through this byway. The Battle of Antietam is considered a key turning point in the Civil War, and it took place as Confederate soldiers crossed the Potomac and clashed with local Union forces. During this trip you’ll be learning all about the familiar and lesser-known stories.

Falls Road

The last suggestion we are giving for a road trip during this fall is the drive from Prettyboy Reservoir to Baltimore. You’ll be able to get all of the rural landscapes along with a beautiful drive to the city. One place we highly recommend checking out is Jones Falls, which had many grist and cotton mills that were in the Jones Falls Valley. Today, most of those mill buildings are now galleries, shops, or even elegant neighborhoods.

Service Center at Century CDJR

Now that you’ve been given some suggestions, we hope you’ll take our advice and get your vehicle on the road for the last trip of the season. Whether you are driving around in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, or you have your family loaded up in a Pacifica, now is the perfect time to really enjoy fall!
